Aboriginal Students Health Sciences (ASHS)

The Aboriginal Students Health Sciences is designed to address three broad areas of need:
1. Increased student preparedness, entry and completion of health sciences programs;
2. Ongoing identification and work to remove barriers to success within the university including increasing awareness of First Nations, Inuit and Métis health issues among the faculty and student body; and,
3. Improved relationships between the university and local Aboriginal communities.

Indigenous Studies Program

The Indigenous Studies Program (ISP) incorporates a very unique teaching structure of Indigenous knowledge which involves many Native peoples and Elders. This unique perspective assists all students from various cultures and background to learn about the history and lives of Aboriginal people within an Indigenous perspective.

Religious Studies Department

The Department of Religious Studies at McMaster has earned a reputation as one of the premiere departments of its kind in North America. Focused generally on studying major world religions through a variety of disciplines-anthropological, literary, historical, theological, and more – the strength of the program comes from its balance of broad, interdisciplinary study with intense concentrations in several sub-disciplines.
